Relaxation tips for your appointment

Below we have some relaxation and mindfulness tips that you can use to alleviate your anxiety before and during your appointment.

Practice mindfulness and meditation

You don’t have to go through a yoga routine, although you may find it helpful to do so. You can easily practice mindfulness anywhere. With mindfulness, you keep yourself grounded, blissful, and present. You can easily achieve this state with a five-minute meditation before your appointment.

Use distractions

To ease your anxiety, try to occupy your mind with distractions. Many of our patients find it helpful to listen to music or a podcast while you wait.

Communicate your concerns with us

We’re quite experienced in treating patients with dental anxiety. So, be sure to communicate any of your apprehensions and concerns. And from there, we can create an individualized treatment plan to ease your anxiety prior to your appointment.

Attend all of your dental appointments

You may be tempted to skip some of your appointments, thinking that this will help your dental anxiety. But research shows that attending your appointments regularly can alleviate your anxiety and create more positive outcomes.

Ease into it with sedation dentistry

At our office, we offer sedation dentistry, a method that helps keep you relaxed in the dental chair. We use two types of sedation so you can choose a level depending on the level of your anxiety before your procedure. At Brightwork Family Dentistry, we offer nitrous oxide and oral sedation.

Our staff is licensed and professionally trained to administer sedation, so you’ll know that your treatment is completely safe. Our team will help you select the best method of sedation for you based on your level of anxiety. Sedation dentistry can take the edge off and ease your anxiety before your procedure.
